Seven songs
After being tagged by Pete, and much thinking, I have come up with the following list:
List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they’re not any good, but they must be songs you’re really enjoying now, shaping your spring*. Post these instructions in your blog along with your 7 songs. Then tag 7 other people to see what they’re listening to.
1) Funny Little Frog - Belle & Sebastian. Because it never fails to raise a smile, no matter how much of a horrible day I may have had at work. And these are plentiful.
2) Famous Last Words - My Chemical Romance. I only gave it a listen after reading the laughable bile-filled rants thrown at 'emo' by the Daily Mail, and found I quite liked it. If only because I like to think, that in a very small personal way, I'm annoying the hell out of some right-wing bigot somewhere. As of yet, I haven't found myself wallowing in a suicidal pit of despair, either.
3) The Birds In Your Garden - Pulp. Quite possibly the oddest love song of all time. Which is why I love it. Utterly bizarre. And Pulp are always grand.
4) Friday I'm in Love - The Cure. The ultimate getting ready to go out on a Friday night song. Up tempo, great to dance to, and wonderfully cheerful. Even if it's completely not true - Fridays usually end up with me collapsed in a drunken heap in the corner (and lets be honest, probably starting to resemble Robert Smith by this point), but it's enough to get anybody in the mood for a fantastic night out.
5) Karma Police - Radiohead. I'm on a bit of a nostalgia kick at the moment, and this reminds me of having just turned 15 and being at my first music festival - Glastonbury. One of those musical moments you never forget. Still the best live show I've ever been to. For a minute there, I lost myself. Bring on the 21st at Glasto.
6) Mulder and Scully - Catatonia. Brilliant voice and a fantastic song. Nuff sed.
7) Last Thing On My Mind - Steps. God, how much trashier can it get? The hair! The clothes! The dancing! Yet when I was nine years old, this was the coolest thing ever. Yes, really. And I said I'd been on a recent nostalgia kick. This is so hilariously bad, I love it. The late 90s was such a special time for both music and fashion. The world needs more bad pop music in modern times, it would be a much happier place.
I tag Amanda, Amy, Aneeta, Ben, Eric, Jess and Solstice Dreamer
* Or autumn/winter, if you're on this stupid side of the equator.
Labels: music, seven songs

There's some good stuff in there - and if nothing else it's got me digging around for my copy of International Velvet (Hmmm ... Road Rage).
I used to listen to 6 & 7 all the time. :p
HAHAHHAHA! People on Youtube commented that they look exactly like Hi-5...and I have to agree, exact replicas! :p
